Artist Statement:

"This piece presents a serene dusk scene, where the soft blues of the evening sky blend with the warm oranges of the setting sun, casting a gentle glow over the Puget Sound. In the foreground stands a lone, weathered lighthouse, its form sturdy yet softened by time. The lighthouse, a symbol of guidance and resilience, represents steadfastness in the face of life's storms—both literal and metaphorical. It stands as a beacon, offering light in the approaching night, a reminder of hope and direction. Mount Rainier looms in the distance, its presence subtle yet commanding, grounding the scene with its quiet majesty. The vastness of the mountain against the simplicity of the lighthouse creates a balance between nature’s immensity and the human-made structure’s purpose.  In this transitional moment between day and night, the interplay of light and shadow invites reflection on the themes of perseverance, solitude, and hope. The colors—soft, yet warm—evoke a sense of calm, as though the lighthouse and mountain are guardians of this peaceful landscape, guiding not just ships, but also the spirit. Through this work, I explore how light, even in its fading moments, continues to serve as a source of strength and clarity."
